Death & Rebirth

If you drop to 0 Hit Points you will fall unconscious. You will begin to bleed out until you are down to -10 Hit points, in which case you will die. During this bleeding phase your friends can still attempt to heal you.

When you die you lose a small amount of XP. So it’s not a good idea to keep rushing into danger! If you find enemies you can’t kill, you can often sneak around them, or call for help from another player in the area.

When you die you will go to the Underworld, and leave a gravestone behind. You must find your way back from the Underworld to the real world so you can continue your destiny as an adventurer.

You will always be reborn at the last Bindstone you have used. You can find Bindstones at various holy locations all over the world – look in churches, temples, shrines, etc. The area around a Bindstone is usually safe, so you don’t have to worry about coming back to life surrounded by monsters. It’s always a good idea to bind your soul at the nearest one of these so you don’t have too many problems getting back to where you want to be.

If you find your gravestone, you can pray at it to recover some of your lost XP.

Bards, Clerics, Druids, and Paladins have the special power to pray at the grave of a dead friend and recall them directly back to where they died. This is a very useful ability, so these classes are usually very welcome in a party! If you want to make sure you will always have someone to adventure with, choose one of these.
